Angola, Louisiana

I just got back from Angola State Prison. I got to shoot a lot of stuff while I was there. It was a 7 hour drive. I got there and went straight to death row. I got to visit with some famous people. It was an awesome experience to share Christ with some of these guys. One of them sings really well. He also makes crosses out of thread. The next day, I went in to lock down with our counselors. These guys are awesome. They give up their weekends and travel many hours to go to prison. Its very rewarding. One of the guys had only been saved for 2 weeks. After that, I went with a group that had never been to angola before. We got a tour of the farm. We went straight to the attack dogs and bloodhounds. Then we went to an actual prison that had no bed, no sink, nothing but concrete and metal bars. Its no longer in use anymore. Next, we went to the stables where they keep very large horses. The girls got to ride on them. The next day, we had a bunch of cowboys come and preach to all the inmates at angola’s rodeo arena. When that was over, everyone left except me. I stayed and had a few pounds of crawfish. These guys taught be a new way of eating them. Last of all, we caught a rattle snake. I wish i didn’t have to leave.
